Hello.

I am currently buying a S2000 too and i also saw some marking looking at the underbody.
It turns out I think i understand what it stands for now, thanks to you guys.

You see, i had a weird G letter on my rear subframe (below is a picture) so i made some search around and found your post about strange A marking..

Looking online i also found a US S2000 underneath picture and found an A where's my G.

I live in France, and looking at the service records for my car, i read it was purchased new in Germany.

So in the end I believe we can confirm that A stands for "sold in America", and my G stands for "sold in Germany".
BlueS2000Boy belief is probably true.

Exactly what I see under both my sideview mirrors as well. I still don't know the meaning/purpose, but the "America" explanation sounds logical, I guess. I am keeping mine in place.

It's to indicate LHD versus RHD.

This is true because Japanese domestic market S2000's are marked with "J" on the rear lower subframe.

I'd agree except 2kturkey said his Aussie (RHD) car's mirrors have A's too. We know that LHD and RHD side mirrors are different, so these particular A's must have some other significance.

quod erat demonstrandum!

Actually it's not the country, it's the regulatory region. Honda uses region codes to distinguish the market/regulations each new car is built for:
KA: United States
KC: Canada
KE: UK & Ireland
KG: Western Europe
KH: China, Taiwan, Korea, South America
KJ: Japan
KN: South Africa
KQ: Australia, New Zealand
KU: Malaysia, Hong Kong

Besides RHD/LHD, the region code identifies the configurations for things like miles/km displays, reverse/hazard lights, headlight level adjusters, cruise control availability, etc.

My S2000 has a "G" under the mirrors and also a "G" on the subframe at the diff. Mine was built by a differnt worker, because the handwriting differs. The guy how build my S2000 has a more japanes style handwriting of the "G". More skilled, i hope.

K G : Western Europe.

This would fit, except for the guy in Australia who also has an A and not a Q.
