Default License Plate Frame Removeal

Hey,

I just got a 2004 s2000 yesterday and wanted to know how to go about removing the front license plate frame off the car, it appears to be stuck on with two 3M adhesive patches.

Thanks in advance

My car didn't even have the mounting bracket. Made it easy.

IF yours is really just held with adhesive patches, you can use dental floss to remove it.

The dental floss can be slid along the paint surface between the bracket and paint and won't get scratched.
You can also squirt it with some "goo-gone" or similar to breakup the glue.

Did you get the license plate plugs from the dealer? You might find some screw holes under the adhesive patches. Ask the dealer for some, if you don't have them already. They usually want $3-4 each.

Well that frame is a hot little item. I went to buy one, and they were gonna charge me $30, so I left. It doesn't even look that nice, but front license plates are required in my state. All I really wanted was the plastic pocket that you slide the front plate into it, but they tried to tell me it wouldnt fit the S2K. So if anyone knows, let me know, otherwise I'm going to get some rubber washers to put in between, cause I don't want metal-to-metal contact scratching the paint.

Rick's (site sponsor at bottom of page) sells a cool bracket for the front plate. It angle the plate to direct airflow into the grill.

Check it out.
