Someone on this board has an S2000 weighing in at 2,590 lbs. Here's my estimate on lbs saved:

40 lbs - aftermarket Header and exhaust
12 lbs - lightweight battery
32 lbs - no passenger seat
10 lbs - racing seat
25 lbs - aftermarket brake kit
20 lbs - aftermarket wheels
10 lbs - no spare tire and tool kit
10 lbs - aftermarket coilovers

Over 150 lbs saved.

This is what I have if I wanted to go all out.

No spare tire and tool kit 12lbs?
Amuse Exhaust 40lbs
No passenger seat 32lbs
Spoon Wheels 23.5lbs
Spoon Lugs 4lbs
Mugen Intake 5lbs (coming soon)
J's Hood 2.2lbs (coming soon)
HKS Header 3lbs? forgot to weigh but lighter than stock
MG Racing Rotors 6lbs
Mugen Coilovers 10lbs?

Could change battery for another 12lbs

Total 137.7lbs or 149.7 with battery

I did not add any extra body pieces to the car or upgrade the stock stereo. Take off the Xbrace and STB and I am back to stock appearance.

BTW just wanted to correct a few things the CF trunk does not save you 30lbs probably closer to 15~20lbs. I know the CF trunk on a Miata only saves 12lbs. There is no way you will save 9~10lbs per wheel as Mikey stated. I don't know of any 8 or 9lbs 16 inch wheels. Spoons save you the most Mugens only save about 2~3lbs per wheel.

I may be wrong, but I remember each stock wheel weighed 21 lbs front and 23 lbs rear.

I'm pretty sure you're referring to Prolene. He has a very light car.

I don't think I'd want to do without the A/C, but who needs cruise control on an S2000? How much weight would all the parts and pieces of the cruise control system save? Probably not much...

Cruise control not much and it would be a real pain to eliminte. The only way I could see anyone doing it is buying a jdm version of the throttle cabling as they have no cruise control.

If you are talking a street car the best way is simply to get much lighter rims and tires. The rotating mass and unsprung weight makes a huge difference. If it is a off road car then man the skies the limit. I believe through some careful part selection you could easily get the car down another 300-400 pounds, if you went all out and did a full race strip more then likly around 600 but that is really puching the limits of what you can take off and the parts you are buying are getting way up in price due to the materials that you would need to build them. If you simply had the car go on a attrition diet of just removing parts about 400-500 pounds is my guess, with most of the weight comming from the convertable top motors and skin, the interior parts and stripping all weight deaping material from the car. With carefull selection of exhaust and rims mabye even more. But you would need to also remove the dash and all paneling in the car.
