As far as "old fogie" driving...The type of driving I described, especially the techniques needed to avoid braking, will make you a better smoother driver and a safer one to boot. If you take smoothness as a challange you can really get into it on a 10 minute in town comute.

And I still drive like a bat outa hell every now and then...although I am resisting that impulse long enough to finish this little one tank test I'm on at the moment.
No doubt the OP did make some more use of his fuel....but come on
IMO
I bought his car(im sure almost we all did) was to have fun with it. Hear that Vtec, get that lil rush when we push it sometimes. But to be driving everywhere worried OMG im gonna pass 3k on the rpm gauge and slowing down a 1/4 mile before the red light so i dont have to use my brakes is just plain slilly. Especially to save a buck or two

::inflate your tires properly, tale out the extra weight in the car, drop ur top::

if not just buy a scooter

I'm with tof-- i.e. smooth is fast. Follow an excellent driver through the twisties some time - you will notice minimal use of brakes.

Wait. Why do F1 brakes glow red? Why do they need ceramic rotors?

You should be always on brakes if you're not at all on accel. Just get to always on brakes smoothly.
