I wouldn't trade my S for an RX-8, even at that price. I think you'd regret it later.

I had an Rx-8 and now have a S2k. The S2k is far superior.

Also be careful with the RX-8. Thre reality is that in mint condition it will be tough to get $17k for it. They are now discounted to $21k or so brand new. Also the gas mileage is horrendous.

A local guy got a brand-new RX-8 for $10k off MSRP a few weeks ago. Which put him right around $20k new. Perhaps the used market on RX-8s is a bit soft right now? With mods and body damage, I can see $13k being offered. Fix the damage, return it to stock and hopefully you'll see a few thousand more offered.

I say buy the 8 if you can, fix it up and sell it. Not sure about your state, but in CA you can sell a vehicle within the family without having to pay tax, etc. So you could actually make a decent profit. I'd say a loaded 8 is worth way more than 13k. Good luck!

If you don't want to buy the RX-8 in addition to your S2K to fix up and then sell later, then why don't you offer to help your Aunt and cousin out by selling the car for them, and taking a percentage of the sale? CarMax is notorious for offering insanely low prices when you're trying to get them to buy your car. You'd be able to get more than $13K I'm sure from a sell through auto trader or online. In fact, somebody might have the same tastes as your cousin and actually like the bodykit and hood.

No, if I were you, I wouldn't sell my S2K for the RX-8, but I would try and help out my family (and myself) by selling the car for them.
