Long tem (100K+) s2000 reliability?
how is the s2k fairing over 100,000 miles? is it just like any other honda and still runs strong, or do problems start to develop. General maintenance needed at that point?
although i dont own an s2k yet, im sure the car was built to last longer than 100k miles. whether there are any major problems depends on how you drive. its just sad to see your car reach that mark in its life.
It's exactly like any other Honda. You don't ever have to check the oil, change the tires every 60,000 miles and it'll run for at least 300,000 miles with no problems at all.
NOT.
There are numerous 100k + S2000s running around. Some are supercharged, some are stock. Some have had problems with engines and diffs, some have had no problems. All will consume more oil than a basic civic, and most will benefit from regular attention to maintenance.
But did you really expect anything different?

im asking because my boss is getting a 911 in the next year or so, but in the meantime wanted to pick up a used boxster. i had him looking at s2000's. he's a cheap guy and he saw that he could get an s2k with around 100,000 miles on ebay for 11-12k. i figured it would be a reliable bet if it came from the right owner but i wasn't sure what the s2000's long term maintenance history was like.

i dont see the problem since he's only going to be keeping the car for a year or so until he gets the 911. geez, thats a waste of money...
but then again, he can afford a 911.
