I remember reading about it a while ago and it was from late 02 models that has the upgraded banjo bolts.
I can't recall the exact production number, but I remember mine being in the safe range of numbers.

I have a new bottom end as of last summer do to a defect with cracked cylinder walls, I need to check my numbers. Hopefully Honda was wise enough to give me an 03 block.

I was thinking that the MY02 cars had the upgraded banjo bolts, but now that you bring it up, I'm not actually sure.

Europe got a recall to upgrade the banjo bolts, but NADM didn't. Cars that are driven at higher revs for extended periods of time should have the upgraded banjo bolts, and it's not a bad idea for all early S2000's.
Yup, 02 and up have the different banjo bolts. EDM and JDM pre 02 s2000 were recalled, not USDM. This was discussed ad nauseum about 4yrs ago?? HTG can get you bolts, but the exchange is a PITA. I had mine done by HTG, when I had the gears done.

You're WAY over paranoid. These motors like to spin. Cruising at 80 with 4.57's puts you at the same RPM as cruising at 89 with stock gearing, certainly not a big deal. It's not screaming, it's purring.
couldnt have said it any other way

ok so this kind of makes me wonder. I just bought my S2K (MY03) and I'm at 4k rpm's right at 70MPH. Is this normal? Or do you think that the previous owner possibly put some gears in?
Right on the money!

The speedometer won't tell you whether or not you have gears, unless a yellowbox was installed along with the gears.
