Long trips in your S2k
I drove from DC to Salt Lake City in three days (10 hours or 800 mi / day), picked up my girlfriend from the airport, spent the next five days driving all through the Utah and Arizona canyonlands sightseeing and hiking, then drove back up to the Bay Area in California, where I now work. A little over 5000 miles in about eight days. We're both young, so we have few aches and pains. Personally, this car is the most comfy I've ever owned. There isn't a WHOLE lot of room to move around in the seat, but the footwells are generous in this car (larger, in fact, than my old Pontiac Sunbird's), so your legs can move around. All in all, I give it about an A-. It wasn't as comfortable as a Buick, but it was a hell of a lot more fun. If you're the type that chooses a car only because it's comfy, you probably shouldn't choose this car.

I live in Salt Lake City, but bought my S2K in Bedford, OH. My daughter and I found cheap tickets, picked up the car and spent 4 days driving back to Utah along I80 & I90 seeing the sites along the way. Put about 2000 miles on the car. We both were very comfortable, had a great time, and we both would do it again in a second.

Got it October 1999 and drove it from Dallas to San Francisco and back that December - about 4000 miles in twelve days, of which 5 were spent on the road. 3 days out and 2 long days back. My wife and I, plus: two full-size rollaboards, two medium sized duffles, one large shoulder bag, one small backpack with wine bottle (a gift), and two large strands of garlic from Gilroy. I am 6'3" and 230lbs, and my wife is petite.
The car ran absolutely fine. The only problem we had was that with all the wluggage (we were well over the 400lb load limit, I'm sure), the headlights were pointed slightly upward. Given that the headlights annoy some peopl even when the car is not heavily loaded, this is no surprise. At a gas station stop one night in the high new Mexico desert, a trucker said "you shoujld have your headlights re-aimed because you're bothering all us truckers." Apparently they had been talking about it on their CBs. Anyway, no other incidents occured.
By the way, we got about 28 miles to the gallon at 80mph to 100mph speeds.
Also, at above 110mph, the pigeons that fly in west Texas can't get out of the way of the windshield, and smack into the windshield header, exploding into a ball of feathers. We hit three in ten minutes at that speed. At 105 they can avoid the car.
The car was a hoot to drive for long distances, and because of the well-fitting seat it was more comfortable than some "touring cars" I've driven that had poor seats.
A long trip through interesting country is highly recommended.

just came back from irvine on sunday the total round trip for me was around 850 miles. id have to say that it wasnt at all unpleasant. passing up cars on i-5 was fun. the only bad part id have to say was looking at the beard of bugs my car had developed from the trip.
drove to s2kdays in the s2k for about that same mileage...didn't bother me much nor my passenger....same discomfort in general as any other car..probably less for the sheer joy of driving the car.
We went from Boston to Atlantic City and back for a weekend, and I would say the only complaint I have is lack of cabin space. Just for snacks and water and such, but other than that, great ride.
