Default Longevity of engines with forced induction

I'm curious about the experiences of people with turbo or supercharged engines. How many miles on the engine since forced induction was added? Who's got the most mileage? Have there been problems? Many people believe the engine will have a much shorter life with FI, but what has experience told us so far?

Inquiring minds want to know

HeCash has (I think) 50,000+ miles on his Comptech S/C, and something like 70K on the car

Rick,

Are you thinking about making a leather turbo charger setup?

Seriously, I've been thinking about that same thing. I've had 75k reliable miles in 29 months and might be upgrading to the Ultimate Racing TurboCharger kit this summer.

Will I be able to get another 75k miles out of the new setup? I don't know, but I can honestly say that my car is running just as good as the day I drove it off the lot.

I'm hoping that my ridiculous 3000 mile "Royal Purple" oil change interval has slowed the wear and tear on my engine. All the comments on the board seem to indicate I'm wasting my money. I've also changed the diff and tranny fluid every 15k miles.

If I get the UR T/C kit, I'll let you how my next 75k miles go. It shouldn't take as long with the extra 100hp, right?

Joe, when I commented on that thread about your high mileage unit, I didn't realize at the time that your car was S/C'd. It continues to amaze me and inspire me even more now.
Like you, I change my oil and filter every 3000 miles. And I have and will continue to change my tranny and diff fluid annually. Hey, it's our money and we'll "waste" it if we want to. You've got running proof that it didn't hurt.

Many owners use Mobil 1 75W90 synthetic gear oil for the diff. This is what I've been using with great success. Due to the seasons we get in Canada, if you drive the car all year round, so far, the most versatile tranny fluid is still the Honda MTF. I have tried no other.
