Where did the added horsepower come from? Or was that just projected? It was still a 2 liter engine, but with 5 cylinders, right?

There is a lot of tuning going on, but noone is getting 270hp. I guess the 5th cylinder did do something.

But all the other 5 cylinder cars I have seen are inline-5s -- the SSM was a V5!

If you want to know more about the SSM and the S2000, check out Dan Carney's Book. It's now listed in the Marketplace.

What a pos that thing is. And what a ghey color combination. What kind of fruitcake would want a silver car with a red interior?

If the SSM's engine is based on the then Japanese market Inspire, which I think it is, it would be an inline 5. Also, Volkswagen makes a V5 for the current Golf in some markets.

Nope, it was a V5 engine not an inline one. I followed this car for almost 3 years before I bought it, and everything authoritive that I read said V5.

I wasn't aware of that.

[B]Depends on what you mean by authoritative! According to Car, Autocar (both UK), and Car and Driver, it has an inline 5.
