Hey guys, new here to the forums. But I'm thinking of trading in my Jeep for an s2000, the Jeep just cost too much to keep running.

Well in the past I've made the mistake of not researching common problems and issues with vehicles I have purchased and then was stuck fixing them later. I want to know what are common things that go bad in s2000's and what should I check before making a purchase?

I don't think there's issues w/ the vehicle itself, but it's mostly user error related.

As far as I'm aware, the most fragile part of the S would be the differential.
If the car's been abused, the differential won't have much life expectancy left on it.
That's one thing.
The other thing would be the over-rev(for AP1s mostly).
Sad thing is, it can't be diagnosed easily unless you open up the engine.

Other than those two, I can't think of a common issue w/ S2000.
It's a Honda, you know.

ok thats what I like to hear, my previous vehicles havent been known for reliability especially once you start modifying them.....99 mitsu eclipse, and an 04 jeep wrangler.... Ive been reading around and hearing those terms AP1 and AP2 I assume they are year ranges? AP1 is earlier models? If so what years are included in AP1?

 

AP1 ran through 2003 inclusive. AP2 is 2004 and after.
