I had no issues getting a test drive. I test drove an 05 and the 04 I ended up buying. I even told the salesman that I wasn't really considering the S but I just wanted to drive one....

BTW I am 25 and rolled up in an 04' SI

If a salesman isn't letting you test drive the car- especially seeing as you are an adult and not just some kid- you need to ask to speak with the sales manager. Give him an earful about this salesman costing his lot a sale, and show him your insurance card with the Z listed as your vehicle.

I've test driven everything from Evos (almost impossible to get a drive) to the Boxster S. If I can talk dealers into it when I was 17, you just need to learn how to be more forceful.
It was the idiot manager who did...

maybe Ill stop by with the Z, tell him what happened, then tell him I am going to the other dealer.s

that so stupid, its even a used s2k at that, i would just blow them off and find a nice one somewhere else. Most dealers arent like that, although they did that to me when i bought my z. I didnt get to drive it after i bought it, i guess lessoned learned. Although the honda dealer took out a brand new 03 off the show room floor and let me drive it and i didnt even want to drive the car lol. Good luck

^^^why would owning a used S2K hurt anymore than owning a 350Z?

If you can't get a simple test drive, come to the Denver area. I was able to test drive a 2005 for a whole day, picked it up at 4PM and took it back the next day after 3PM with another 230 miles. Did not buy that particular car because of the trade-in but certainly bought another a week later. I seriously considered the Z but was also concerned with the quality control issues. Just love my S2K.

Well... I have to sell my Z, or trade it in. If I sell it, I am going to have to re-pay taxes on the S2000. To a tune of 1500-2000 bucks.

If I trade it in, well, I will get taken for 4000-5000 bucks.

And I have an 04 with 15k miles and will probably go to an 03 with 25k miles... thats ok, the S was worth more to begin with anyhow, but I am going to lose money in the end, you always do when getting rid of a car this quickly.

LOL, and of course I have to explain that I just like the S that much better and thats why I am sellin!

But is that what it takes to break a 14.0 in the 1/4 on these cars?
To run less than a 14.0 in the S2000 you'll need to launch it at the track. At what rpm you launch it at depends on the track conditions, but its usually above 6000rpms ... and beating on the car like that can potentially damage parts of the car if you don't do it just right.

I've never owned or driven a Z (have driven a G35c though), but the S2000 is a great car. I'm almost certain you won't have the same amount of problems with the S2000 as it sounds like you're currently having with the Z.

The S2000 tranny is pretty reliable, I think the one problem a lot of people complain about is the notchiness of the shifter when the car is cold ... this is pretty normal and there's not really much you can do about it other than wait for the car to warm up.

Good luck with your car shopping! If your dealer won't let you test drive an '01 S2000 then you need to go somewhere else to look.

Test drive a Honda Certified 03 (100k warranty etc) in white with beige leather.

Typically I dont like white, but it looked awesome and classy on this car.

WOW! WHAT FUN! If I had driven this in the beginning, I doubt I would have gotten the Z. Its not the torque monster the Z is, and you do have to wind it out, but it handles so sweetly, and the air... ahhhh...

So... I told them to consider my trade in and if they can get my payments close to matching we will do it. Of course they couldnt finish by closing, so I have until monday to find an 04 for 26k... which I doubt will happen...

Did the interior change in the 04 models?

There slighty more elbow room they recessed the door panels. It still comes with Tan interior. And ofcourse with the 2.2 liter engine which gives it a little more
torque and some will argue another 15 to 20 hp......but that can be debated to death.
