Looking to buy an S2000, from a 350Z
You should be able to find a 2004 for less than $26k by now if you're interested in the AP2. I bought my 2004 for $28k with 1500 miles on it and about $3000 worth of mods on it ... a year ago.
It wasn't Honda Certified Pre-Owned, but it still has the factory warranty.
GPW is a great color on the S2000 ... The 2006 models will get a black interior with GPW, I wish that would have been available when I bought my 2004! 2004 will also be getting a new color, Laguna Blue Pearl ... nobody is quite sure what kind of blue it is, but I'd imagine it'd be darker than the Suzuka Blue thats available now. Just some food for thought incase you are thinking about buying new.
You'll cause quite a debate (most of which has been rehashed to death) if you discuss the AP1 (2000-2003 2.0L models) versus the AP2 (2004+ 2.2L models at least in North America) ... The basics are in terms of acceleration, the cars are about the same with the 2.2L models being a little easier to drive in day to day driving because of the extra torque while the 2.0L models have a certain edge to them because of the 9000rpm redline. Handling wise according to AP1 owners the older models will handle better due to the suspension being a little stiffer in the rear and the S02 tires being stickier while the AP2 is a little more predictable with a softer rear suspension (so the car will slide out more progressively) and RE050 tires which squeal a little more to give you some warning as you're sliding.
Again, good luck with your purchase

zboy...if you had multiple issues with the tranny on the Z, you maybe want to start researching lemon laws. I know at least one person who has successfully gotten the manufacturer to buy back the car.
I had an Enthusiast 03' Nissan 350Z Automatic, then traded in for a Touring 04' Nissan 350Z Manual and then a year and a half later the Z was a lemon and I got a full refund minus the charges for putting 10000 miles which was nothing...Anyway I now have an 05' Honda S2000 and man is it a better car...I mean not by means of speed or 0-60 and stuff...I am talking about build quality and also the car doesn't have any problems with 7000 miles on the odometer...Anyway don't worry the car is amazing and tons more fun than the Z...The Z was kind of predictable after driving it for soo long, it seems as if the Honda S2000 is always new when I get in it...Honda S2000 hands down better choice over the Nissan 350Z...The Nissan 350Z just have too many problems and Nissan needs to sort things out before selling crap...But don't get me wrong the Z is an awesome car...Good luck man..

And, the certified used actually really appeals to me because of the extended warranty tossed in. Although by the same token I should be able to purchase and extended warranty on any car for about 1000 bucks right?
As for the lemon law question above, I could persue it, but its much much easier to sell it or trade it in.
