Default Looking to buy an S2000, please help!

I am in the market for either a 2000 or 2001 S2k.
1)I was wondering if anyone could give me a list of things to look for as far as potential mechanical issues?
2)Is there any advantage to getting a 2001 aside from it being newer?
3)Is the extra year of warranty beneficial?
4)Any other advice would be greatly appreciated.

Mike

00-01 are almost identicle, the big change happened in '02

i would get an 02, they fixed most of the problems.

I too would go for an 02. there won't be that much of a price differance in an 01 and 02 and you gain a lot of little things. Like leather center console, tweeter pods, glass rear window, that sort of thing

If I were going to stay with a 2001 or 2000. What should I look out for mechanically?

2 main things are the clutch and the 1-2 gear grind. There is a 00 silver S2000 at Cush Honda in National City with 6,600 miles for $25,000. Trust me when I say look around because when I bought mine there where only 3 for sale. I did not want to wait and ended up getting a 00 with 40,000 miles on the clock for $25,000. I still wish I would have wait or just spend the extra $5,000 and get the 02. Oh well, I'm still happy with what I got. See you around in San Diego.

im not saying 00-01 s2k's are bad, but if possible try to get a 02+. they're worth it. no offense to 00-01 owners.

I don't think I'd buy a Honda from someone who had to ask what VTEC means.

Wow fasts2 is all over the place. Sells cars and drives a gas truck and panhandles on the side.

What else you got in the pot eh?
