Default looking for a car trailer. what's your advice?

anyone with any expertise with trailers? cuz i'm near clueless.

i'd like something to haul my car on to show and also on long trips to avoid road rash and extra mileage. a price tag below $1,500 would be nice. i'm not looking for anything fancy. just something safe and effective to haul behind my truck.

Get one with long ramps if you can (> 5 feet) and low or removable fenders unless you like crawling through the window. If you don't get long ramps you can still take some 2x8 boards and use those to extend your ramp.

I bought one new two years ago. Foldover fender, extended yoke to avoid jacknife problems, beaver tail to drop the back end down and the 6 foot ramps. Electric brakes to the rear axle and multiple D-rings to tiedown.

What I didn't consider at the time was storage. It was 21 feet long total and my storage space was only 20 feet. It ended up costing me $100 a month to store it until I sold it.

You can get a new one built for a reasonable amount. Probably close to two thousand dollars done correctly. It sure is peace of mind to know your S is riding on a stable platform with good brakes and not worrying about the trailer breaking down.

I just picked up a used Featherlite for a good price and it is only 17-1/2 feet long. It has 4 wheel electric brakes and removable fenders. It also has a nose protector/wind screen and a spare.

Don't forget good tiedown gear will be another $100-$200.
