Default Looking for a good replacement battery

I need a new battery, and figured I would get one of the Hawker Genesis batteries that S2KI sells. However, there seems to be a problem with the S2KI Marketplace, so I can't order it. I've sent 2 "contact us" messages to the S2KI Marketplace over the past week, and haven't gotten a response. I guess they are not in business. (EDIT: They have been trying to respond, but their emails have been bouncing back ... It ain't their fault...)

Does anyone know what the model number of the Hawker Genesis battery for the S2000 is, so I can buy it somewhere else? Are there other good alternatives?

TIA

Contact "krazik" or "ludedude". They operate GoFastLabs.

BTW. Moving to S2000 Talk (topics on product information).

Interesting ... I thought S2000 talk was for color choices.

Krazik didn't reply to my PM either. I guess I'll try Ludedude.

BTW, I wanted the Hawker because of its weight, but I'm not really all that concerned about 13 lbs. If there is a better choice, I'm open. Are the Optimas better than the Hawkers?

My stereo is stock, and I rarely even turn it on.

I don't have any complaints about the battery I got at Sears. (From the drive-up battery service station that have by Valley View Mall.) What's the cost of the battery you're looking at? I think the Sears one was about $60? Unless the Hawker is specifically designed to withstand Texas heat, I don't see it lasting any longer...

The Hawker Genesis is listed at about $93 in the Marketplace, and the Optimas are over $100 retail.

I'm not so concerned about how "long it lasts" as I am about quality and weight (to a lesser extent). The OEM battery is still starting the car, but the starter turns without much oomph, and my dash lights flicker while idling. I know I don't want a cheapo battery from past experience. They seemed to do their job (start the car), but they all had corrosion problems.

"What about Optima?" That is my question. What advantages do they have over the light weight Hawker Genesis?

...hopefully gernby will have more mercy on people than his last forray into s2ktalk.

That said I'm curious to see all the types of batteries that people use and they're characteristics. Both weight and electrical. Been a while since I've bought a new battery. I think most of the light weight ones are dry cell(I want to say gells?) battery. I know CCA(cold cranking amps ) is important as is lifetime, but I don't think there is a quantifiable meteric for life time.

Me I'll be running a Spoon battery soon mainly because I could pick it up cheap and I'm curious to see the difference from stock(if it's even detectable)

Ludedude should get back to you pretty quickly. I have never waited more than 30 minutes for a response from him

Why do you care about weight? You never come to the autocrosses anymore.

Regarding quality - don't know how to measure that beyond stating that the Sears replacement hasn't given me any issue, including being corrosion-free so far. Maybe it helps that the Sears guy sprayed some yellow gunk on the terminals when he replaced the battery?
