Optima yellow top.
What is it with the friggin' color choices in this forum! There is also a red, which is much prettier than yellow.

Sorry ... I couldn't help myself ... What is special about the yellow top? Is it "better" than the Hawker?

I've had pretty decent luck with OEM Honda batteries not leaking, versus 2 Leaking Chrysler/Mopar batteries. I remember reading the Optima's where sealed and couldn't leak.

On my old Dakota I broke down and bought an Optima after neutralizing the acid on the inner fender and battery tray for the 3rd time.

The Optima yellow top is a deep cycle battery, perfect for or cars that have a large amp draw to start, then sit for a while. I believe it has a larger reserve capacity, so the stereo crowd likes them.

The Red top is the Standard Optima, for normal use.

Optima now has a group 51 battery that fits the stock tray, instead of being crammed in there.

Try a Interstate battery dealer, they often carry Optima Batteries with Interstate stickers, for less $$$

Why do you care about weight? You never come to the autocrosses anymore.
Basically, a 13 lbs weight savings is about like adding 1 rwhp. I don't know of any "mod" that will add 1 rwhp for only $40 (assuming you already need a battery that will cost at least $50). I think this might be the biggest bang-for-the-buck mod around. I already need a new battery, so why not take the opportunity?

I need a new battery, and figured I would get one of the Hawker Genesis batteries that S2KI sells. However, there seems to be a problem with the S2KI Marketplace, so I can't order it. I've sent 2 "contact us" messages to the S2KI Marketplace over the past week, and haven't gotten a response. I guess they are not in business.

Does anyone know what the model number of the Hawker Genesis battery for the S2000 is, so I can buy it somewhere else? Are there other good alternatives?

TIA
Let me guess...your email address is at alcatel.com? It might be time for you to inspect your email settings as we've responded to your emails numerous times but they bounce back to us with the same error each time. It's kind of hard to give customer service when our responses get rejected by your server

In any case, our store is undergoing our version of the much dreaded "v4 upgrade" so it's been a little flaky but it should be back to normal now.

Shoot me a PM and I'll do my best to help you out with any battery questions you have.

Go to Sam's Club and get a type 34 battery which is the same height and length but is an inch and half wider. You have to extend the top and bottom hold-downs, but you get 50% more cranking and capacity. Only about $60.

I haven't had the alcatel account since February. However, I can't find where the email address settings are in My S2K. I do see where I can enter a NEW email address, but not see what the existing address is. I have been receiving PM message notifications from S2KI on my new account.

In any case ... I apologize for making you guys look bad. I just want to order this friggin' battery. I'll send you a PM.

I don't have any complaints about the battery I got at Sears. (From the drive-up battery service station that have by Valley View Mall.) What's the cost of the battery you're looking at? I think the Sears one was about $60? Unless the Hawker is specifically designed to withstand Texas heat, I don't see it lasting any longer...
The Hawker holds up to Texas heat fine. I've had one for about 16 month and it hasn't failed me yet. Of course, I haven't started the car in over two months.

Are you experiencing any DTs from not driving it? Are you "tending" the battery while it is just sitting? I would be interested in hearing how well the car starts back up when the time comes.
