Default Looking for my first s2k

Okay, so.
I'm a newbie here currently in the market for my first s2000. I've come across a few potential candidates here and there but nothing super promising yet. I have this one here that caught my eye, but it seems awfully overpriced even with the OEM hard top.

Basically, I need someone to tell me that yes it is overpriced and that I should shy away. In speaking with the owner he said that he would lower the price to $17.5k without the hard top, but even that price still seems sky high. Don't know if it makes a difference or what, but I'm located in Houston, TX.

Any guidance (or even help in acquiring my very first s2000) would be greatly appreciated!

Expect to pay this much for a matching numbers AP2 with this mileage. I assume it's rust free since it's in Houston.

Perhaps. I figured it may just be an owner who is very reluctant to let his car go. Oh well. I don't discriminate between AP1 or AP2

There are much better deals to be had... I would wait it out. Summer is ending and there are better deals if you can wait to buy one in the winter time.

I agree his price is insane, It's maybe a 14-15k car without the hardtop. It's funny to watch people ask stupid amounts of money for their cars because it has a hardtop and then wonder why it doesn't sell

Agreed, that car is overpriced. FWIW i found my car on ebay and pounced within hours of it posting. Keep the money ready and don't be afraid to look nationwide.

I didn't think of that idea, but then again winter in Houston doesn't usually come around until a month or two after Christmas. Patience is a virtue, right?

No kidding. I think it's his baby, so he's probably very unwilling to budge on price. Not sure if I even wanna spend money on a pre-purchase inspection only to find that he won't budge.

In your opinion how great are the risks of purchasing something so expensive sight unseen? I'm not against the idea, but it just seems a bit scary.

I would look for something with lower miles. If you can't find something local, how far are you willing to travel to find the right car?
