I purchased a car exactly like this one, two tone interior with Sebring Silver (if I'm seeing the pics right) exterior (the lighter silver) but only 50,000 miles. I paid $17.5 and it needed new tires as part of that. Mine was a one owner though that was pretty much perfect and it didn't have the hardtop. The hardtop probably costs $3500 if he were to sell it outright. It feels like the car should be around $14-15k for the miles plus $3500 for the hardtop, so maybe $18.5 vs $20.5. I'd agree with everyone else, probably keep looking unless you're juts sold on this color combo and the hardtop.

In terms of the CURRENT market, that car is overpriced by maybe $1k, assuming very good condition.

People here are chiming in about what they paid for their cars without any type of time frame. In 2009, my friend bought a ridiculously clean 06 GPW/BLK with 60K on it for $15,500. But that's not relevant today.

My suggestion is (if this car is as well cared for as indicated) to get the price to about $18.5 to 19K WITH the hard top.

Buy the hard top. Don't buy the car sans hard top.

This is accurate. Each one is priced uniquely. There are rough guidelines...but I'd be more concerned with overall condition and maintenance. Expect to pay more or less depending on colour combo.

If buying a car with under 100K is important...then that's an outlying criteria.

Some cars with 50K miles are beaten to within an inch of their lives because of neglect. Some cars with 100K miles have been cared for properly and will run much better.

That's the thing. Most ppl maybe thinking in terms of when they bought. As most current owners are not in the market to buy another S2000, they may not know current prices. I was looking for one for a friend. Some of the ones listed at $10-15K were pretty tired. Or heavily modded. Not good for a first time buyer with minimal mechanical skills.

So here is my opinion FWIW. I think it's way over priced & frankly I don't by his story about the car. That's a ton of miles for a "2nd" car used for pleasure driving. In Houston not sure what value a hardtop would be, then again given your miserable climate of heat & humidity maybe being closed in is a good thing! The AC on these is very good. I'm a new owner myself & I found my '06 in Columbus, OH also silver with only 44k miles & was in perfect condition. Paid $17.5 about 90 days ago.
Do a Carfax for sure!!
My criteria was:
'06 +
1 owner
low milage.
Just so happened the owner was in his early 70's so I figured crap he's older than me (60) how much crazy sh!t can he do to it.
I flew from Philly & drove it home about 550 miles & bonded with my baby!!

Why does everyone try to lower the value of the S2000 by talking non-owners out of buying if it's higher than yesterday's average selling price?

I don't get it. Someone will buy that car and will likely be a very happy owner. There are plenty of multi-owner cars out there with questionable histories, and everyone expects their value to be in line with a one owner, well maintained car. We are supposed to be fellow enthusiasts, not a bunch of back-stabbers. If you got a great deal on your car, great. Put your ego on a shelf and stop bragging. Someday we're all going to want to sell our cars and we shouldn't want others to push prospective buyers away.

If he's willing to pay that price and enjoy the car, it will be a great deal. There are many s2ks for sale with much lower miles in that price range. Not trying to devalue the cars but just trying to help out a fellow member get a good deal and be happy. As long as you're willing to travel. 100k miles is a lot of miles and for the asking price, he can get lower miles.

Fellow member? He's not a member and either are you. You're both guests. The guy selling the car might be a member and even if he isn't he is a fellow owner. In my opinion you ARE trying to devalue our cars. You certainly aren't trying to appreciate their value.

You need to relax. The truth is, there are much better deals than the one he asked about.
