looking at an S2k 2moro few Q's
hi guys, i've been lurking in the back ground for a while but finally my circumstances have changed........im going to look at a w plate s2000 tomorrow and was wondering if anyone could tell me of any issues i need to be aware off. i have done a bit of reading on here today and haven't really found anything major to look for (good thing really)
the car is completley standard, the seller says the back window is good (no rips) but slighlty opaque and the roof works prefect no rips but it has wear marks where the roof hinges.
it has 66k fsh. in silverstone grey with red leather. i have phoned honda and it has been in for all recalls.
what i want to know is what is the PCD fitment on the s2000 im sure i read somewhere 5x114. does the new shape civic type r have the same pcd?
are there different redlines or bhp outputs on earlier versions of the s2000
is there anything i need to check on the car, common problems areas or part?
if the roof leaks where's the most suceptable place? is there a common area for rain water to collect?
I know to check for all the usual stuff like paint, suspension knocks, bushes knocking, water temp, oil level, diff noise, gear changes, tracking, braking, pannel alignment, roof operation, and so on.
any pointers will be greatfully recieved. sorry if this has been covered a million times before.
hopefully i will be a proud owner of an s2000 tomorrow. (just sold my e46 m3 as it was a tad too thirsty and needed some money).

Hi Cupra
Get onto the UK section of the forum.

1/ Edited. I just posted the link to the guide in the UK forum. Check out the ALLOYS thread.
2/ In the UK there is only 1 engine - Revs to 9K
3/ Yes - there are a few things to look for.
Do a search for "seized bushes" - it could cost up to £1K to sort out.
The roof is liable to get torn.
4/ There are drain plugs under the car. but check that water is not getting into the boot.
On the main UK page - there is a detailed FAQ manual - and a buyers guide link that will help you.
and welcome.

you mention the plastic window, thus you likely have a 2001. There were lots of little things that needed upgrading on the 2001 that occurred in 2002 and later years. Too many to mention here. When I was looking for one a couple months ago I went with a 2002 for that reason. I guess if you're getting a good deal and the car looks to be in good condition you should be fine. I always tell people to be prepared to drop a couple grand in maintenance and upgrades when you buy a used car such as this, there's always something that will need attention after the fact.
