Default Loose boot cover post

Question, not sure how to describe this, but one of the posts that the boot cover attaches to is loose. I've only had the boot on twice in 2.5 years of ownership, but I noticed one is all the way loose. It's just hanging there and is held up by what looks like a washer on the inside of the plastic.

The post that's loose is the on the passenger side right next to the seat. I've noticed some of my other ones getting loose, but I was able to tighten them by simply screwing them back in (just turning with my hand). This one appears to be all the way out...anyone know how they attach on the other side??? Any advice?? Thanks!!!

you will have to take that panel off and get to it from the inside...i had the same problem with mine, and they took care of it at the dealership since i am still under warranty....try them frist, if not, the panel is not hard to get off!

Good Luck,
John

If it's hanging by what appears to be a washer, you *may* be able to tighten it without removing the panel.

The washer-looking thing is the actually a round surface molded onto a hex nut. Obviously, the ideal would be a wrench on that nut while tightening the post.

*However*, you *may* be able to tighten it without removing the panel. First, put a drop of Loctite (blue, service removable) or equivalent on the post where it meets the "washer." Next, pull the post away from the panel while tightening it.

With luck, the nut will be held against the panel enough to tighten the post.

Of course, if this fails, you can still take the panel off. I just don't like to remove them if I can avoid it.
