To the atkins diet guys.... I give you a lot of credit because I love food and can't imagine cutting certain things out of my diet. I was approaching 200lbs, which doesn't sound like a lot, but when you're only 5'9" it really is. A couple of years ago I started running every other day and have worked myself up to 5 miles at a time. I then threw in some weight lifting on the days I don't run. I'm now holding at around 155lbs. I eat pretty much whatever I want...but have learned to take it easy with certain things.

You guys should look into the Zone diet. This allows you to have portions as big as you want, but only of certain foods. This along with excercise will be very good. I don't run yet although I should, but I was building mass over the winter, but then a lot of big accidents and illnesses came my way last year. If you want to tone up and lose weight then make sure you run, do abs, and do light weights at high reps ( 15+ ).

Yup. No foolin!! I wasn't made to have a puppy I guess. I didn't eat much for the first 4 days we had her. I have gotten better and eat 3 meals a day now but the weight has stayed off. Now I can work down from here chasing her around!! I don't recommend this diet to others but it must be like the Atkins in that it is a way to take off a big chunk at a time, in my case due to stress.

i never wanted to lose weight (i run a lot), but had to try to reduce my cholesterol so doc said cut fat intake way back. i went to as close to 0 total and 0 saturated fat as i could... now dont worry as much about total, but still keep saturated fat low. lost 15 pounds in 6 mos (i was already very slim)- cholesterol is well into the normal range too! oddly enough, i have to eat huge meals (with lots of snacks) to avoid any more weight loss...
on the car side, i lost pounds by putting on the dual oval spugen exhaust and also put their drilled and slotted rotors on to replace the stockers. lost weight, gained some hp, and made the car much more beautiful (stainless exhaust, and no rust on the rotors!!)

Cholesterol drugs will go the same way as bloodletting did! You'll see. If you really want to improve your health and save yourself some grief, check out www.bolenreport.com

I say, buy an OEM-style carbon fiber hood and a carbon fiber trunk then paint them. It'll look stock and you'll lose some weight. Exhaust is a major weight loss area, but it will look a little different and in most cases, sound much different. Headers don't sound very different and you can lose some pounds there. Removing tools and spare will help quite a bit. You can also look into tires, some tires weigh less than others and performance won't be sacrificed.

Actually, in terms of $/pounds, this would not be one of the better mods to do. The good carbon hoods/trunks that take some decent weight off cost a fortune (like $3k a pop) and the knock-offs don't save much if any weight over stock. I believe, as has been previously mentioned, the biggest weight savers are the exhaust and the other few items already mentioned. I suppose you could take the soft top motor out and do it by hand. I believe that would save you around 40lbs. Seats might save you some weight, but again, would probably cost a bit.

S2KWhite has Group Buy going right now for CF Trunks that weigh half the weight and hoods for $500-$600 that weigh a couple of pounds less. I wasn't thinking the best $ per pound, I was just suggesting an idea.
