anyone removed the firewall rubber mat

Default anyone removed the firewall rubber mat

i hear it can remove some significant weight, anyone done it ?

It may cause some significant sound dampening loss. I would think any weight reduction would be not worth mentioning. Let alone performance gain.

i dnt care about noise, to me any weight reduction= a better car.

yeah----I took mine out (it weighed almost 3 lbs!!)

with all that weight savings, I cut 3 seconds off my 0-60 time---I'm now below 2 seconds!!!

seriously, you won't do any harm if you take it out---but it really doesn't weight much (it's not very big) and it will make it a bit louder--wouldn't be the first thing I'd do to drop weight but if you've done everything else and this is one of the few things left, go for it.
Just don't expect much improvement unless it's part of a comprehensive weight shaving program

hmm ive heard it was way heaveir than that....was it reALLY 3 lbs LOL ?

take a large dump before you drive your car, that should be a loss of 3lbs.

I have taken it out on other cars previous to the S. If you dont care about the dramatic increase in cabin sound levels, then why not!

but if you are going to take it out, I suggest you completely gut the car as I did with one of my older cars.
