Default Loss at low end with test pipe

Hey guys

I just fitted test pipe today and definitely I felt loss of power at low end, I tried redlining it and I cant really tell if there is gain up top- butt dyno

I wonder if the low end loss can be recovered with some tuning- say vafc2?
So this way I dont lose low end and get hp up top (supposedly) - is this possible?

The car only has comptech intake and stock header and catback

Im planning to get header and maybe throttle body and definitely vafc2 in the future, but stock exhaust is staying (I love it)

Thanks for any input

forget about the throttle body, I've never seen a gain due to one on a s2k thus far...just a waste of money. Get a catback at least and that'll give you some gains since you already have the testpipe.

Even if you get a header, your stock exhaust is still limiting your exhaust flow so you'll still have the problem.

I didn't notice any loss with my test pipe. What TP did you get?

I thought this was the case too, so I jumped on s2ki and did a search found few ppl with the same problem

I wonder where abouts is the gain with catback exhaust? mid/top ?

This car is daily driver so I like my midrange power

The gains are 3-4rwhp without a testpipe. Add a tp and your looking at somewhere from 5-15hp throughout the rpm range depending on the exhaust. I gained 14rwhp top end and at least +10hp throughout the range sticking a tp onto my invidia system so take it for what its worth.

Regardless, most of this your not going to feel a difference. You feeling a loss of hp low end is maybe 1-3hp (who even knows to be sure but its not much). No one can feel that kind of power, its just the placebo effect (or opposite in this case).

When putting a TP on, is it good idea to reset the ECU to relearn the new setup?

shouldnt be necessary, the computer can adjust the fuel trims itself for part throttle/cruise fueling, and resetting the ECU has no effect on WOT fueling

You should not lose any low end with a test pipe. If you put the car on a dyno you will see gains throughout the RPM range.
