Why can't they just ask what your ballpark score is? They could certainly dump you if you lied!

Insurance Inquiries are not calculated into your FICO. They will show up on a report but they are not used in the formula. The only inquiries that will affect your score are consumer intiated inquiries (i.e. applications for loans and credit)
What do FICO scores ignore?
- Your race, color, religion, national origin, sex, or marital status.
- Your age.
- Your salary, occupation, title, employer, date employed, or employment history.
- Where you live.
- Any interest rate being charged on a particular credit card or other account.
- Certain types of inquiries (such as promotional, account review, insurance or employment-related inquiries).
- Credit counseling.
- Any information not found in your credit report.
- Any information that is not proven to be predictive of future credit performance.
Thanks for all the replies guys...Being in the city definitely hurts when it comes to my rates...But the car is going to be garaged in the suburbs for the most part, espcially when the weather is bad...Keep the good info coming
Philadelphia is tough. . . high rates of insurance fraud (I think South Jersey is tops in the county (???), which somehow affects us here?). I thought my rates would go down after moving from Long Island, but they've actually gone up. Anyway. . . enough b*tching.
Just about to switch to All State after a bit of shopping around:
$1067.69 per 6 mos.
Bodily Inj. - $15/30k (I really need to up this one)
Prop. Damage - $25k
Comp. - $250 deduct.
Coll. - $500 deduct.
10% new customer discount
10% multiple line discout (renter's ins.)
I am 26, no points, no accidents, and live in Center City.
I had a great experience with Erie Insurance over the past few years, but they increased my rate to about $3000/yr. I'm sad to drop them, simply because the customer service was second to none and my agent was great, but $$ rules. I can give you my (Erie) agent's # if you'd like. I switch to All State next week, though, so I'd be happy to let you know how that works out too.
