ok maybe the people dont drive them around as much...
but im afraid that if the owners used them as "fun cars", as most of people here do, the cars might had been damaged or hurt by the owners
i didn't mean to say that S2k's are poorly made cars
ive owned Hondas (if you count Acuras as Hondas) before and would like to own them again
my main concern is that recent year low mileage sports car were abused by the owners because they never intended to keep them for long time
so has anyone bought their S2k on low mileage?? and how is the car doing still??

There is a used car dealership down here that has two S2000s (a silver MY00 and a red MY01) that they have sold and have had traded back in three times each. The owners bought them because they thought the car was cool looking and fun to drive at first but then decided it was too much for them as weekend cruisers in the city, especially with the 6-spd and tight suspension. They traded them in for Z3s and Boxters.

how come they have such low miles?
my guess is:
A. the owners had kids or buying a house just after buying S2k
B. the car had lots of problems
C. the car was a loaner car
D. its a repo or lemon
can someone enlighten me on this?

I dont drive mine very much, but its definately not a ferrari. It doesnt need to be garaged all day long and whatever, nothing wrong with rain as long as your safe with it. Dont forget its a honda and definately not a bently or anything like that. So the guy who had it probably couldnt do normal things with it. You know its not hte most practical car in the world and isnt very functional. I can barely get my briefcase and a couple phones in the car!

Any car whether it has 10 miles or 100,000 miles on it could have been trashed by the original owner. I would say your chances of getting a good car are much better with a low mileage car than one with a lot of miles. I've never heard of people buying a $32,000 car and planning on driving the shit out of it for 5000 miles so they can sell it and I have no idea why you're so leery of buying a low mileage car. Any used car is somewhat of a gamble, but I definitely would like the odds on a one year old car with only 5000 miles.

I got my certified used S2000 from Lynnwood back in Nov '01 with 2,500 miles on er.
I did not know how break-in was performed, nor who the previous owner was.
I found out later, the previous owner had a bum knee and the 6 speed was killing him. He ditch my beotch for something in the automatic flavor.
I've got over 45,000 miles on er now with one trip to the dealer for the spark plug TSB.
Happy as all get out

I have an 01 and I drive the shit out of it. I got it with just under 18,000 and I now have 23,000+ miles on it. Got the car in January of 2003 so I put 5000+ miles in about 3 months (errr 20,000 1/4 miles hee hee) I have tracked the car twice and had trans problems at the last track event (Honda replaced the Cluch). This is a really fun car to drive. Especially if you drive it like the Honda Brochure says it should be driven

I goy my MY 01 in April 01 and only have 5300 miles on it. Certainly not because I don't like to drive it, but when I had to commute to downtown Chicago and park in a garage, I drove my other cars, and would just drive the S on the weekend. I certainly take great care of my car as well, so I would not be leary of low miles.
