Of course, it only had 90 miles on it in mid-December 1999 when a lot of ppl were paying $5k above list Peep bought it to turn a buck and was getting no action as the winter approached in Central PA. I've had a on my face ever since (maybe not when ) and am approaching 38k miles!

I bought mine a year ago next week. Since then I've logged 2900 miles.

Timbean,

For the most part I do agree with your statement not to buy from anyone under 25 years old, but face it, if you are 21 or over you are probably paying for it yourself and so you treat it like gold, just as some at 31, 41, 51, or 61 would.

Being the fact that I am 22, I had to say something, because I do pay for mine and it is my baby. The more appropriate thing to say would be never to buy from someone who you know doesn't get regular maintenance done, especially with no recors to prove it.

It hurts a car more to drive it for 7000 miles without an oil change than it does to redline a car once a day that has its oil changed every 3000 miles. Even the guys who track their cars every weekend are in pretty good shape because they know what they are driving and how it has to be maintained properly.

Not to bring any hostility because I understand where you are coming from, but just the fact that I am young, doesn't mean I beat on my car. I just think in any case when you pay for it yourself, you respect it, when it is given, then you do not. So ask if they paid for it instead of how old they are, maybe thats a better check.

Hi, I'm sorry to bump this thread but I was always told to search and post in an existing thread covering my topic rather than start a new one.

I am interested in this s2000. I have not driven it yet but it is 200miles away. The car is a MY00 and has 11k miles on it. You can see mileage history here: http://www.carfax.com/cfm/ccc_DisplayHisto...MAP1146YT006305

I am wary of the low miles and just need people to ease my thoughts. How could a 6 year old car has only 11k on it? Owner thinks it was a Ferrari? Please advise on what to do! Very appreciated.

i bought my car last april. it's an 01 and had 18k miles. not the same but similar. now i've got 40k+ on her and adding more every day. I wouldn't worry about it. as many/most of the people said in this thread, not everyone uses the car as a daily driver. many are garage queens and are only taken out on those perfect sunny days.

As long as things were maintained you should be OK. Only thing I would worry about would be the A/C as the seals may have dryed out. Rubber things would be the main thing to look for maintenance wise. I put about 400 on my car one year when it basically was taken out every couple of weeks just to run it for 15-20 miles. I had 6 cars (4 of them 2 seat convertibles )at the time and no spare time with building a new house and work. I'm down to 4 now and there are two of them that average about 4k a year over their lives. Don;t feel bad though I know someone who just bought a '93 car with 14,000 miles and another one who bought a '95 with 8500 miles.

ok maybe the people dont drive them around as much...

but im afraid that if the owners used them as "fun cars", as most of people here do, the cars might had been damaged or hurt by the owners

i didn't mean to say that S2k's are poorly made cars

ive owned Hondas (if you count Acuras as Hondas) before and would like to own them again

my main concern is that recent year low mileage sports car were abused by the owners because they never intended to keep them for long time

so has anyone bought their S2k on low mileage?? and how is the car doing still??
Are you trying to talk yourself out of purchasing one? Condition and care is far more important than mileage. There are people I wouldn't buy a car with 100 miles from, and others wouldn't even have to think twice about buying at 100k from. I test drove an '03 with 5k on it and it was very apparent the previous owner didn't care for the car one bit. The one I bought is an '02 with 8k on it (now 24k) and the previous owner drove the car as it was intended to be driven, but took good care of it in the process. I couldn't be happier and the car has been nearly flawless (minus a few TSB issues) for me. No matter the mileage, just look the car over and test-drive it. If something seems to have excessive wear, feels loose, or you just get a bad vibe from the seller simply walk away. Ask simple questions to the seller regarding how they took care of it. The good thing about these cars is that they're generally purchased by people who will care for them, unlike the people buying a Civic/Accord who couldn't give two-shits about it driving for 20k w/o changing the oil.

Don't let low miles put you off. My 2004 has low miles because it is a weekend toy that rarely sees the road in winter. For many people, the S is a second or third car that does not get to see higher miles.

14 1/2 monthes old and just turned 6000 miles. Low miles didn't scare me, mine had 6 on it when I bought it. It was three miles to the gas station and the salesman took it to fill it. Maybe I shouldn't have bought it, huh?
I can update mine now. 4 years and just turned 18,500 miles.
