Lowest Seat
I know this has been asked time and time again. But I'm still not convinced. I want lower seats (I'm 6'3) I need a few inches lower. Who has put an aftermarket seat in and achieved a lower seating position? Any pics? Did you do it yourself? Millions of questions before I drop over 1K on replacement seats. The mod is also not an option. Any help is GREATLY appreciated!
well, before you seriously commit to doing it, keep in mind that when the seats are lower, your legs will be stretched out straighter, meaning you will require more legroom than you currently do or else your knees will be hitting the steering column/dash constantly. now since you are 6'3", i'm guessing that you barely have enough legroom in the s2000 as is, thus by lowering the seats, you may solve the problem of headroom, but you will be creating a new problem for yourself. the bottom line is that the s2000 does not have enough room for a tall individual to fit comfortably. the stock seats are kinda high because the car has very limited legroom, and thus by having a larger angle created by the floor and the line connecting the bottom of your butt and the heel of your foot, the car can physically accommodate longer legs than a seat that is lower that creates a smaller angle. i don't know if i am being clear, but think of it from a geometry point of view: let h (hypotenuse) be the length of a person's legs, x be the distance from the back of the seat to the pedals, and y be the height of the seat, where x, y, and h creates a right triangle. assuming a particular individual with legs that's H in length can can fit perfectly with the seat all the way back that creates a distance of X on the stock seats with height Y, where the formula for this right triangle is X(squared) + Y (squared) = H (squared). now i don't want to go into any complicated computations, but basically when you lower the seats, the only way to accomodate the person with leg length of H will be by increasing x. now since the seats are already all the way back for this person, there is no way to gain any additional x, and so this person will end up having to bend their legs to "fit" in that space with length X, and the more you lower the seats, the more that peson will have to bend his/her legs. so the most likely consequence is that this person will feel more cramped in the leg area and will be hitting his/her knees on the steering column/dash possibly to the point where that person doesn't even have enough room to manuever their legs to manipulate the pedals.
once again, i know what i just said is confusing, and i am not trying to discourage your from getting lowered seats, only i think you need to think this through thoroughly before you spend $1000 only to realize that you have made the seating position worse for yourself.

you know it's a good day in the Forum when somebody says, "I don't know if I'm being clear, but... let h (hypotenuse) be the length of the person's legs..."

Well thanks for making my brain hurt
But I'm trying to understand that if I lower the seat how my legs would touch more than they already do? I thought that the lower seat would make me have to straighten my legs more instead of having the current bent knee. If anyone out there has done this and has any input PLEASE post!

This theory only applies if you are using the same seat. Some after market seats are thinner and can therefore move backwards a bit more resulting in a lower seating position AS WELL as a similar leg room.

Well first off the stock seats are very thick. . If you use bride seats you can push the seat back further than with stock seats ase the after market seats are thinner. So you should not really have too much of a problem with leg room. There are quite a few tall people driving IM 6'1 and can still fit with stock seat.
(if you did not realize the pic above those seats are not brides)

6'3 here. I fit fine with the original seat location but wanted to feel lower in the car so I did the seat mod and got another 1.5 - 2 inches. I fit even better now (leg room and all) so I'd advise against spending $1000+ on something you can accomplish with a bit of agrivation for under $10.
