Luggage rack anyone?
The Surco rack is very well made but the one I ordered thru Auto Anything came bent and it was a nightmare trying to return it---return shipping via UPS was $76 because of the size of the box and I argued with them and sent multiple pictures and they finally agreed to apy the retun shipping cost. So if you buy one, be sure to get it from someplace that will take back a defective one with no hassle.
I've used a (new) rubber floor mat on the trunk lid to protect the paint and put a softside suitcase on it and tied it down with bungee straps----held fine but when you stop for lunch, you do have to keep the car in sight to make sure the suitcase doesn't "migrate" into someone elses car! (same with a trunk rack)

Another option would be to install a trailer hitch and plug a rack into it.
If you installed the hitch, then you could easily customize a golf bag carrier. I have a trailer hitch bike rack that could easily be modified to hold a couple of golf bags.....
