time to change the oil....

it'll blink and go away at 4500(?) miles since your last reset. At about 6000(?) miles since, it'll stay on until it's reset...

isn't this a bit of a noob question? How long have you had the car?

Don't be a jerk.

Just say thank you and reset the light as directed in your manual.

If you got your oil changed at a non-dealer shop, they didn't reset your internal "maint" mile counter.

She's just expressing surprise that you haven't come across this earlier. If you change your own oil, this is a recurring part of the job.

I'm not being a jerk. I don't have the manual and jusr bc she is a girl doesn't mean she is any different then other ppl. Sorry. If she just talked politely without jumping to conclusions I would have said thank you. I dint appreciate a response of that nature hence my response.

Like said before, the light flashed for 5 seconds or so and just went away. So reseting would be pointless cuz it isn't there.

The only reason ENTHRALLED pointed that out is because you called her "bro."

You're still not understanding.

If you reset the internal COUNTER, then it won't flash again at you for another 4500 miles.

Right now you're on "snooze" mode with the maint light.

It's like saying: "I can't turn off my alarm because it's not beeping... even though I just hit the snooze button."

The light isn't there, but the counter is still counting.

Keep driving and you'll get the light back soon.

Reset the counter and you won't see it for 4500 miles.

She said it was a noob question because it's right there in the manual.
So she assumed you aren't the original owner of your 2003 vehicle or else you'd have a manual and perhaps read it. So she was wondering if you just bought the car.

What's so wrong about that? She was right on 2 of the 3 points, wasn't she?

C'mon, if you're going to ask a basic question because you don't want to shell out for a manual... are you surprised if people give ya a little flak?

By the way, have you checked in the secret compartment for the manual? Sometimes it hides there and "preowned" users find it years after the purchase....
