When I started my car last night, the "Main't" lit up on the dashboard. I had my first oil/filter change at 5000 miles and the odo is now reading about 5500. What's the deal with that? Was there some service indicator that I should have resetted with my oil change? Should I bring it into the dealer?

Cheers,
Ed

Hi Ed,

O.K. guys, my turn.

The directions in the owner's manual are wrong. See the S2Ki FAQ that describes the procedure for turning it off. https://www.s2ki.com/faqs/faq_maintenancelight.php

Yes it is.

You're welcome.

Not to be too anal but...
FAQ says it comes on after approx 7000 miles. Speedster only has 5500 miles. I'm assuming its a digital counter, no real room for error or judgement. See where I'm going with this... Does it take anything else into account (how hard you drive, average RPMs, or would that be too complicated).

I was wondering that too! I heard that BMW's factors those in. If that's the case, then I must be putting "difficult" miles on my S2k.

At around 6000 miles since last being reset, the Maintenance Required light starts flashing for 10 seconds or so after startup. At 7000 miles, the light stays on. It does sound like Speedster's light actuated a little early, but I have no idea why.
