Default maintenance required light wont go off

my car just recentley hit the 90,000 mile mark and i had the regularly scheduled maintenance done to it, shortly therafter the req maint light on the dashboard started lighting up and blinking when i turned it on then the light would go out. after a couple weeks of this happening the light came on when i started the car and stayed on. i took it in to get looked at today and they read the codes and the code came up for the gas cap being undone. i had problems with this previously and the check engine light would come on but i just had to really turn the gas cap to get it to shut right. i was just wondering if this is a normal problem and if there is anything else to it, or if there is anything i can do to get the light to stop showing?

SEARCH. Maint req light is different than a CEL. It's just a mileage counter. You can reset it yourself with a combination of holding the trip button down and then turning the key to on (while still holding the trip button).

I just typed "Maintenance required light" into the SEARCH bar.

Got this: https://www.s2ki.com/search/forums?query=ma...+required+light

The SEARCH FUNCTION works pretty well for common things.
