Default MAP Sensor Story

Story - Going in to get spark plugs recall this past Thursday and the S got a hairball (bad fuel first thought) then stalled at stop sign. Then could not accelerate hard without hesitation so have to stay at low rpm's - get to dealer - spark plugs replaced - problem still there - I (based on this board) suggest they check MAP sensor - they are puzzled because of no code - the dealer's S expert continues work on the S the next day (when he was to be on vacation -special thanks) - finally they force a code.

Dealer says they had to "take pictures" when they test drove it with something attached to engine (and then send info back to Honda tech specialist) - result Honda tech says MAP Sensor needs to be replaced (under warranty). Done - works fine - including hard day yesterday testing the super fine twisty 9/22 Maryland - PA Border Run Route (to which you are invited): https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...&threadid=73891

When the S was picked up the dealer says "Where did you get that technical information (on the MAP sensor)"-- I told him this Board gets a gold star (including the search function). Thanks.

Tom

I've had this replaced once already, probably a second time tomorrow.

I tried replacing it once but the replacement failed too. What works best for me when that happens is some medium strength percussive maintenance on the sensor and then things are hunky dory once I restart the car.

Anybody know that they would have put on my engine "to take pictures" while they test drove it?

Maybe the OBD II scanner or other diagnostic electronics looking at current outputs.
