I don't really care I just think its funny how everyone had to chime in about how much faster they've gone with the top down.
I wasn't talking to you

Back to the subject at hand.

The fastest I've heard of a S2000 going is 157 down a hill. He even caught it on video and that car was banging the rev limiter in 6th gear.

If I knew where the video was I'd post it, but if anyone wants to search for it there are a few threads about it.

Just for the record to the original poster: The E46 M3's are governed in 6th gear at 155 MPH, but you can (with the right conditions) push 5th and slam 6th real fast to pass that. The car is supposed to have a top speed of 170 MPH and all it takes is a little software to kill the governer. E36 M3's don't have the same limiter.

so 157 huh... thanks... i really dont care if people come on here and be the safety police... hell i know its not safe... 100mph is not safe... 55 mph is not safe if you put it in the hands of an idiot... but those of us who want to do it... will do it...

the closest track to me is Sebring... and 911's barely break 140 on the straights there.. if they had a Nardo or North Circuit within a 6 hour drive... ill be there...

nice M3... i also have an E46 330Ci... infact one of the M3's was an E46...i had no chance there... and all of those guys are running intake/software... so they had a good 20 hp on me plus their slightly better gearing and aerodynamics up top... the E46 M3's are capable of almost 180 in low wind conditions... they will pull to almost 160mph in 5th...

Theoretical top speed (155mph) is achieved in 5th gear, not 6th.
