Metal Rattle Noise Question...
ive had this noise going on for years and it doesn't happen all the time. its a rattle coming underneath the driver side dash near my left foot. it comes and goes and it doesn't affect the driveability of the car. anyone with the same noise?
Have you inspected all of the undercar components in that area or do you feel it is withing the interior of the vehicle? Rattles are not an easy item to troubleshoot online without prodigeous amounts of info .
Well, while you may think it's coming from down there, I had a similar issue and after searching on S2ki came up with my spare tire being loose and not tightened all the way.
I had metallic sounds all over the place. Tightened it down and voila! No more noises.
May help you with yours too, unless you've stuck your head under there and located the source.

i've checked everything and anything where i think the noise is coming from.
in regards to the spare i'll check that cause it may have happened when i removed the spare tire cover 2yrs ago.
i remember when i had my IS3 there was a rattle coming out of the glove box that started as a light rattle, brought it to the dealer and during the drive with the tech couldn't duplicate the noise. they said bring it back when it gets worse, a month later it did and the noise would only happen when i decelerated at a quick rate. when the tech rode with me he finally heard the rattle and asked me to pull over and pop the hood. after tugging and pulling all what might be loose that could cause the noise, it was the battery tie down. when you heard the rattle it sounded like it was in the glove box.
so yeah, hopefully its coming from of the rods in the spare tire area...
