Two best ways to save gas:

1. Skip gears, 4th to 6th etc.
please avoid this. this can be very bad for your synchos. a honda of america employee (woodwork) confirmed this.

I don't understand what you mean by "avoid money shifting ". What exactly is "money shifting"? It is a new term for me. Thanks.
Money shift = Mechanical overrev

Meaning you downshift one or more gears or misshift resulting in engine revs higher than redline because the tires rotate that fast and the engine revs will match that speed and the rev limiter will not and can not prevent it.

So you overrev the engine and eventually the valves touch the piston head and bend because the valves go up and down so fast that they begin to float. I believe it was somewhere around 10.400rpm that the floating begins...

So money shift is a gearshift that costs lots of money in the worst case.

Yes, but if your quest for gas mileage is so fanatical that it causes you to toss out a major attribute the S2000 has, something is screwy. What's next, skinny all-season tires for less rolling resistance?

Hmm... lets see: A 2 seater with a fixed roof that has offers poor performance but gets pretty good gas mileage? Sounds like you bought the wrong Honda

Its the Cadillac of hybrids!

Technically, piston motors operate at 100% efficiency at WOT. If you gave it everything you got, everywhere you go, you'll get better fuel economy. Lol, i swear to you that this is true. However, i shift at 4k rpms and VTEC every once ina while and i got 27mpg when i filled up last night
Yes, maybe they operate more efficiently, but you're still using up more gas in higher RPMs. When you VTEC, you're getting only 7-9 MPG. Yes, you may be at 99.99999% efficiency, this just means you're efficiently using more gas.

I'd say when I drive, I shift every 2 seconds or less until 6th gear. I accelerate fast enough to where I can shift and be around 2500 RPMs in the successive gear. I get around 26 city and 29-31 on highway.
