I know it's a little late to be chiming in, but why didn't you sand/soda blast the rust off. I did that on an old 78 Z and it made the job soooo much easier. I used pool filter powder for the blast medium and it left it smooth and was easy to blow out.

I understand the process on the Rust Reformer, but none of the shots seem to show the rust turning black so it worries me that it might not be working. I used Permatex's Extend Rust Treatment to "destroy rust" and it worked great. It is a separate treatment that does turn the rust black and then you primer over. It does not turn shiny metal black, only places with oxidation. Unfortunately mine sat unpainted in the garage for several years but that allowed me to view the Rust Reformer's process. It stayed black with no advancing rust. The shiny parts developed a mild rust coating that a quick pass with fine sandpaper took off.

My son just moved to Palm Beach so when I visit sometime we may just have to come view the project. How far are you from there?
I didn't sandblast because I wanted to do the whole process in house and the rust situation really wasn't that bad. The only places where it was deep was on the floor pan under the seats which we grinded away. I mostly used RR as insurance and not to convert deep rust but it definitely penetrates and turns the rust flat black.

Every place we used RR is either covered up by multiple coats of black rust fighting enamel or self etching primer which will then receive ALOT of Champ white so I'm not really worried about it.

I'm down in Miami Lakes which is a little over an hour south of Palm Beach, you're welcome to come see the car anytime =)

Are you going to put white on the inside of the car? It will look good, but I find black to be a very subdued and less distracting color than white.

White is great when you're working in the car and trying to find small parts that fall down, but its high reflectivity would concern me if it's anywhere in my sight lines (e.g. roll bars). White is tough to keep clean too.

Yeah, the whole interior/engine compartment will be white. If reflection off the bars is a problem I'll wrap them with something but I definetely want everything under me white so I can see things that aren't where they should be.

Can't wait to see this thing in action. Any idea when the official unveiling will be? I'd sure like to be there!
