doh. pardon my egregious error. post fixed.

Yea I did that a couple weeks ago. Then my car died out of nowhere. Did a compression test and one of the valves is bent. Taking the valve cover off tomorrow and hopefully I'll only need a new valve or something. If not then I'll prey I only need a new head and there was no piston damage.

Then I'd get it checked out. You may have cracked a couple of retainers, which would eventually drop the valves on your piston, and then you're looking at a valvetrain rebuild. Just spend a few hundred dollars now and get the retainers checked out, and then you won't have that problem in the future.
good luck wit yours and i hope its not bad as my but let me ask u a question.. is yours hard to start in the morning ? or have it been hard to start at lease once?? because my did and it did even before i over rev the car.. so i think there is something wrong wit the S2000 valve keepers. this is not the first time i see this bc in other shop they had a 02 having the same problem at 3200 miles and at my dealer we have a 2006 with bearly 30 miles.. honda should know about this and check their product and back it up..

Dylan, how long before your over rev did your car die?
I was in second gear for maybe fractions of a second, Enough for the rear wheels to lock up and the revv's to shoot way past 9

yea he is right, about 2 weeks ago i miss shift. i went from 4th to 3rd and the car i went over 12000 rpm's.
i call tech line give then my check engine codes. it was misfire cyl. 1,2,4 and told them the valve keepers were sinking. first thing they ask me if there was a over rev code, and that it sound it like a over rev problem and that honda is not gonna cover it. i was like ok im piss now bc im a honda costumer and i bought one of their expensive cars.

The deal is, you admit to missing a shift and severely over reving the engine. Why would you think that Honda would be responsible for that?
Sure, it would be nice if they helped you a little but this really isn't their problem. Accidental or not, it's abuse of the car and that isn't a warranty issue. If I had done this to my car, I wouldn't even bother calling Honda about it other than to get a quote from the dealer on what it might cost to fix it. The only person or entity I'd be pissed at would be myself and I'd just have to suck it up and pay the bill. It wouldn't be fun, I wouldn't like it, and it might take a while to get the money up, but I'd do it.
How much you paid for the car is totally irrelevant. If you bought a $350,000 Farrari and went out, screwed up and toasted the engine, I guarantee that Farrari wouldn't be paying for your engine either.
Best of luck on this one,
Steve R.

Alright tonight driving im doing about 85 in third gear and i go to shift into 4th. I have only had the car for about 3 weekes so im still getting use to it. I accidently shifted into second, but i hadn't let the clutch all the way out yet. As soon as i realized what i did i put the clutch all the way back in. I know my car reved high but i dont know how high. There is NO check engine light. It drives fine, but i think it is making a slight humming noise now when i get above 4 thousand rpms. I might just be being paranoid though. Do i have anything to worry about if there is no light?

since you are unsure how high the rpms went, i'd fork over the $150 or so to get your retainers checked. the car could crack a retainer, and drive with zero issues or CELs for months, then suddenly, WHAM valve to piston contact, and you are now looking to spend several grand for a new engine.
how long were you in the wrong gear? did you let the clutch out fully? realize it only takes a matter of less than a second to for the engine over 9000rpm. it all depends on how far out you let the clutch out. even the tach wouldn't necessarily have shown it since in such a case, the tach is going to be somewhat behind what's actually going on.
also, in the future, to prevent this from happening, do not use what's called a "death grip" on the shifter. when you are in 3rd gear, don't grip the shifter with your palm on the side of the shifter. this is what causes you to "pull" the shifter not only down but also towards you. instead, place your hand over the top of the shifter and pull it straight back.
watch my video here. notice when I shift to 3rd, at first my hand placement is EXACTLY what it SHOULD BE for a 3-4 shift. (however, once I go to actually shift, i move my hand to the death grip position, which is what you SHOULD NOT do) i'll make another video like this, and use proper hand placement next time.

Me you and Dave
yea he is right, about 2 weeks ago i miss shift. i went from 4th to 3rd and the car i went over 12000 rpm's. the engine was fine it sound it fine till 2 days ago, check engine light is on and the car start to run really rought. it had a lot of idle surge so i did a compression test and my readings were.. 50psi, 140psi, 170psi, 160psi. i took the valve cover off and notice the valve keepers were sinking in. both intake and exause, valves havent droped to the piston. my car only has 20k miles so since i work at honda i call tech line give then my check engine codes. it was misfire cyl. 1,2,4 and told them the valve keepers were sinking. first thing they ask me if there was a over rev code, and that it sound it like a over rev problem and that honda is not gonna cover it. i was like ok im piss now bc im a honda costumer and i bought one of their expensive cars. im like ok fine ill just get it out of my poket. but when i took the head off i see that there was more damage than what i tought. my piston on cyl 1 and 3 are damage.. so yea im pretty mad right now i really dont know what to do next i got the car in the shop and the head taken apart on top of my tool box.
