Default missing platesin US photos

Ive noticed in a lot of the s2k photos that you dont have to display the front plate ?

In england we have a white plate at the front, yellow at the back.
Whats the law in USA.? Can you just have one plate ?

plz enlighten me guys.

I don't know about the other states, but in Massachusetts, there was a period of a few years when they issued only one plate for the rear...a green lettered plate. Those of us that have them don't want to let them go. When I bought the Stook, I transferred my registration from the old car and thus kept the one plate. I re-registered my old car (a winter mudder now) and was issued two new red lettered plates. The poor thing never had a front plate, and I had to drill holes in the front for it. Such a shame. '87 Fiero. Also, did you read my post about water in the taillights? Have you experienced that?

Depends on the laws of the State of registration. States that require two, though, are really snotty about it.

The Stook is the one with the water in the lenses...it's five weeks old. I don't think I should be baking parts of it in the oven. So what you are saying is you don't have the water in your lenses so I must have something defective? The Fiero is a neat little car but woefully underpowered....must be why I went VTEC after eight years of 93 hp.

It depends on the state, but I believe that most of the states require both a front and a back license plate. In California, they require two plates, but many people will take their chances and only put on the back plate.

I think that in some countries, the licence plate is registered to the driver, not the car.
In the U.K. the plate stays with the car unless it is a personal plate, then it can be transferred.
Is it true that in ths U.S A. you have to buy a new plate every year ??

Just wondering

Andy,

In some states, the plates stay with the person. I know in Nevada, when you register for plates, they stay with you, no matter what kind of car you get.

Here in California, the plates stay with the car. When I buy an new car, I get new plates with them (unless you have personalized plates and want to keep them).
