Default Mixed Reviews with Hondata

OK, Well after trying to decide about what to do with my Hondata situation i actually considered letting the shop drive my car to hondata to have it installed.

Upon doing so i consulted some dealers of hondata 2 to be exact. One local one not so local. both gave similar report about Hondata. i was surprised to receive negative results from these 2 dealers and they basically told me that it's a chance that you are going to take with your new car if you decide to do this.

1. Technical support, there is little to none? accroding to one dealer. Getting a call back, help or supporting information about the reflash is very difficult.
2. Consistency of the product varies (he was relating to past situations with other honda models, nothing specific to the S2k) Issues concerning multiple reflash attemps to correct problems on different application.
3.reliability is another factor to be concerned about that was mentioned.

Both shops has not done a S2K reflash but they did express the difficulty of obtaining support even being real local to them. So with this in mind i started to question my self. Am i willing to spend the $595 and have to worry about the lack of support? reliability issues? i am starting to think that it's a chance i dont' want to take.

I am going to consult another local dealer and see what his report is about hondata. If it's positive then i will call around more dealers. I am sure they produce a good product but to get 2 bad reviews from these dealers is starting to make me reconsider this modification....

Any one with either Hondata reflash care to report?
which dealer helped you out?
how is the support?
any technical issues?

any info is greatly appreciated because i serously want the reflash thats the only reason why i purchased a header in the first place but now i am getting scared

FYI out of common courtesy i will not publically name the shops as these were their opinions i have no idea how much truth is behind all this.

I had K-Pro before on my previous car. I absolutely loved that product! And after getting that, I belive that a fully programable box is the first mod you should do, to maximize everything, and at the same time give you peace of mind that your car is tuned properly.

However, with just a reflash, you are sort of setting the car to a fixed state of tuning. and for $500+. Why not just save up a little more, and get AEM later on....at least that is what I am planning for my car.

If you are really hungry for power now, and have $500+, buy something that you will still use later on when you have a fully programable box.

just my .02 cents

When I called them to get info about there product all they could say was read what is on the web site, lousy service. Buyer beware if two different dealers are telling you of these issues that sould be your sign. After reading what YOU wrote here I am going to pass on the reflash until many have had it in there car for a period of time. I may never do it at all, it seems as if they have a our sh!t doesn't stink attitude. Sad.

Spend a bit more and add gears to your S you will probably like it better.

i would do the AEM actually i would rather do an Autronic stand alone system but the 2006 model S2k is a totally different beast! it's equipped wtih an electronic throttle, and a host of other electronic doodads that the previous cars didn't have.

So the AEM won't work with this car unless i do an entiner engine harness, intake manifold, thorttle body, immobilizer, and who knows what else is tied together that needs to be chaged.

thanks for the input but sorry it won't apply to the 2006 or 2007 models.

yeah i did call them in person not too informative or supportive over the phone. So i am not going to take the hondata Plunge, they might have a great product but with 2 dealers yesterday, 2 others today, and with 3 total giving the thumbs up. I won't chance my car. It's not worth the time or day if they can't share info or give the end user peice of mind about their product.

i will be looking into a set of gears, audio, wheels, and pray to the Honda Tuners of Japan some one make a reflash for the 06 and 07 monsters.

Mugen, spoon, J's any one.....

if any one has the reflahs and would like to share info that would be nice i would still like to know more but right now my decision stands at 80% hell no and 20% maybe.

yeah it was on the top of my list, it's the reason why i purchased a header, but to tell you the truth the header alone provided allot of benefits, the engine feels free when reving, i still have a stock exhaust and K&N drop in filter but the car feels like a totally different animal.

Header is definatly worth every penny i suggest everone to do this install you will feel a drivability change. It won't yeild allot of power but your saving weight and faster RPM's to Vtec bliss.

Yeah, I'm looking into a set of gears as my first performance mod.

At first, I thought the gears + Hondata reflash would of been a great combination.
