IIRC - I think the widespread word around here is that AP1s are the one's that burn oil. The AP2s seem to be much better on the oil usage front.
I disagree. My MY2000 s2k never has any less oil after 3500 miles. I drive it pretty hard sometimes also. I run mobil 1 synthetic every 3k miles if I can, but if it goes up to 3500, the results are the same.

I didn't say all AP1s burnt oil, I just said AP2s were less likely to burn oil. Since the OP has an AP2, I thought this was relevant.

OP = Original Poster...but I was actually referring to you, not the OP. Oops - I botched that one.

With an 06, you are less likely to see an oil burning problem like the 00-03's might see. Still good to check you oil frequently until you get used to your car's oil usage.

OP means "Original Poster" - the guy who created this particular thread.

I have used mobil 1 since i got the car, but my last oil change I wanted to try something different, so I opted for pennzoil advanced 10w-30 synthetic and oddly enough, my cold morning startups are alot smoother. The car would want to shut off after the initial startup when its 20deg or so, but with the pennzoil, I can start it up and immediately release the clutch and it stays running. I might stick with the pennzoil, the car seems to run better with it.

I live in San Francisco as well, and I use 10w30 Mobil1 with OEM filter.
