Default Modifying The Air Intake Manifold.

Hey guys,

I saw that a few of you took off the air intake box completely, so I've just done it to mine. Looks like it would get MUCH MUCH more air than before, trouble is that it may suck in hot air from the engine bay.

Question for the owners who have done it: is it beneficial to have it removed completely or is it a disadvantage because it may suck in hot air from engine bay?

Some have reported gaining a few hp at the wheels. Anyway, I don't understand why Honda engineers gave it such a SMALL opening in the front instead of a much bigger opening. It just looks to me that the small opening wouldn't take in enough air.

Peace out, guys!

put the cover back on, you're losing power.

that plastic cover your removed actually insulates the intake from the extreme temperatures that our engine creates.

do a search, and you'll see what i'm talking about.

have a great day!

There are improvements to be made to the intake simply because, even designed from the ground up as a sportscar, Honda realized not everyone loves intake honk from open filter type CAI's so they designed a system that is efficient in filtering, relatively quiet but not necessarilly the best for performance.
Removing the cover increases the sound (yay!) but also creates a suction area for the engine temps (not cool, so to speak).
Either buy an aftermarket intake or leave the box on, unless of course db's are more important than hp's.
