Oh yeah my parents are asian...
Dude, this is not a good car to learn manual on.

If you really wan to get your way though, tell your mom you are going to hold your breath until she lets you get it and if she doesn't you will die. Then gasp in some air and start. She will be so afraid of you suffocating she will give you anything you want.

It works, trust me

This thread is so ghey...

Are you 18?

Does the law say that YOU can own anything before your 18th birthday?

No?

Then you'll drive whatever THEY own and decide to let you drive.

(I'm no lawyer and not clear on the law with this but I don't think you can legally own a vehicle until you're 18, I could be wrong)

Drive a fooking Pinto for a couple of years and save your cash to get the car you want. Dropping that cash into a CD for a few years will net you a better vehicle than the S2000 when you're ready.

If you are over 18, then tell your mom to go frak herself with a prison toothbrush, you'll buy whatever the hell you want (just be prepared to pay for all of it).

Its no use, my mom is firm about me not getting it. I guess, that means I'll have to get the Si, or wait for the Ralliart.

Why do you HAVE to get anything at all?

Its good that she won't let you get it, pickup a beater manual to learn on first since this is your first car.

So?

Are you an adult, or are you a child? If you are an adult, then you take into consideration the opinions of the people that you think matter, but you make your own decisions. If you are a child, you let them make the decisions for you.

It's really as simple as that.

Of course, if you are an adult, then you have to be responsible for your own decisions (for instance, you have to pay for this car).

I am being serious, me and my dad have been shopping for used S2000's for a month already. My mom doesn't trust me driving, and she's too scared I will die in a car accident. So she worries alot about me.

She doesn't drive manual, she says it's hard work.
Also explains a lot. Would I be wrong if I said your mom is a bad driver too?

It sounds like she's scared of driving and bein over protective. Tell her that manual cars requirte you pay attention to your driving, so you're actually safer.

An S2000 for a first car in high school just isn't a good idea. I know you don't understand that now, because i didn't when I was in high school, but i still had a 96 civic sedan sideways in canyon roads.

Of course, back then i was immortal.

On the other hand, if you do get it, when you total it, that raises the value of the rest of ours.
So if you can get a fwd car sideways, how is this an argument against rwd cars?

I had 2 years of driving Integras (1 92' rs then a 92' gsr) in high school, then got myself an S a month before graduating. I thought i was ready because i was good with a standard( 3 years) and i could basically handle the devestating $485 a month payment. 4 months later i went 73 MPH into a house and got 6 months probation along with a CWOF(continue without a finding) on a wreckless endangerment charge. I was paying for the whole thing by myself (3 grand for insurance/$1200 sales tax/485 per month.wear and tear) and i look back and it wasn't worth it at all. Almost killing my friend(my stupidity caused him to flip his truck at 55 mph) and myself because i HAD to have a nice car. HIGH SCHOOL KIDS SHOULD BE IN FWD COMMUTER CARS!!! Im 19 now too so it was only last year...still on probation actually. good luck with the car though if you do get one....
This basically just says that rwd skill ≠ manual skill. I've seen plenty of teens in wrecked Civics, Accords, Corollas, Camrys, Buicks etc. If you drive like an idiot, it doesn't matter what you drive - you're dangerous.
