Mom doesn't agree with the s2000.

Its a Honda, so its reliable and well built. Also has a 4 cyl so it gets pretty good gas mileage. It also has some of the best crash test ratings for convertibles. 5 stars for everything including roll overs.
And yea if that doesn't work you can always threaten your own life, like was previously mentioned

one major point i used was differentiating the difference between acceleration & velocity. tell your mom you won't speed; you just want to get to the speed limit quicker

The s2k is not kind or forgiving to average drivers who push the limits.

Because you're not paying for all of it.
If you can afford "most" of it and your own insurance, forget what the parents think, wait until you can afford all of it, and do what you want.
Or choose to be a momma's boy...

I wish I had someone geared up to subsidize my car1, car2, house, utilities, 401, 3 kids, karate lessons, piano lessons, dance lessons, property taxes, investment property, etc. etc. etc.
Cover me for 30% on the above and you can pick the house color, car types, rename the kids' middle names, and I will buy you dinner at Morton's for your trouble.
I scraped together $1,200 to buy my first car (72 vw bug). My vehicle was my choice governed only by my ability to afford it.
Ahh to live in the land of bailouts, cotton candy skies, and family leprechauns with their gold pots.
I'd do the ol' bait and switch... Tell her you've changed your mind and you want something faster and more expensive to insure that gets worse gas mileage... like an STi or an Evo... REALLY convince her you have your heart set on that... then when you decide to "settle" for the S2000, it won't seem that bad to her any more!
