Momo Commando 2-tone steering wheel project
First let me say thanks to all of you who contributed to my post earlier asking for info and help on the parts need to do this steering wheel install. If you need to reference that post, go here:

Originally I thought this was a simple job and set my budget at $250 for everything. Well all said and done I spent almost $500 to get the parts needed.
Bought the Momo Commando wheel at a local shop in Portland for $191, then ordered a NRG Quick Release Hub from a guy off E-bay for $90, and finally had to hunt around to get the Splash Short Hub Adapter for another $180 (most expensive hub I have ever paid but at least it has the SRS defeat feature so my airbag light won't go on!)
I installed everything last night - took only about an hour since it was so easy. I removed the stock airbag using a TORX driver and carefully unplugged the harness for the airbag. Next I removed the large 14mm bolt and the steering wheel came off. Lined up my new hub and bolted that in along with plugging in the fuse so my airbag light won't go on. Attached my quick release hub to the short hub using 8mm screws provided and then connected my horn. Final step was to pop on the steering wheel and test the horn. Everything worked perfectly on the first try
The pics show the parts I bought and before/after shots!
ENJOY!

i had the same steering wheel but in different color, red/blk, for about a month and
got rid of it.
it just makes the car look too cheesy and cheap.
too much tidious color blocking looked like kids' clothes section at walmart.
el cheapo quick release steering hub will make your car feel like
"sega daytona" at local video arcades.
if you want the racer look and feeling,
don't be cheap and get the right stuff and do it right.
it'll be good for your car's performance and safety.

My Apache wheel is even smaller than the commando's diameter and I have no problem with the cluster line of site.
I am not 5'4" like you maybe,,,,,,at 6'2" it works for me and gives me more leg room.
The smaller diameter requires less travel at the circumference to achieve a given degree of turn resulting in a better response.

Ya, well if you get hit in your car and you removed the air-bag, man, all reapirs will be on you, cause the insurance won't pay.I like the look but not that much to risk being hit, but I can understand about getting more leg room.

well, if you think it's got class, that's your level.
personally, i'm starting to hate even my nsx-r steering wheel- i want my stock one back.
nrg good? that's first.
it has no zero play? at least you shouda said "it has zero play."
oh? so now you wanna talk about its function?
1) small commando's diameter covers rpm bar from you eye,
unless you are the same height as danny devito.
them ghetto boys love to see rpm bar shooting up to 9000-vtec-rpm.
2) look at the grip of the steering wheel and the shape of it.
it's very... uh... f1-ish.
the problem is, s2000's steering radius is a lot bigger than f1 cars.
if it was a go-kart, may be. s2000? no.
it will actually make you perform worse on tracks, trust me.

I heard a filthy rumor that you are going back to stock and getting rid of the car....going Euro Trash (BOOOO!)
Anyway, I'd be interested in your wheel.

Dude, what's up with this class business..? The Momo wheel looks very nice even compared to my OEM M3 wheel. The grip is beefy (though not as thick as the BMW one...)

First off, I did not know about the GRF unit...I have to agree that it looks very well made but at $530, ouch! Granted I spent over 180 for my Splash short hub and $100 for the NRG piece which I thought was a lot already! But in testament to the NRG unit, that thing has NO SLOP....not sure what you talking about but have you used one before even?

The Momo wheel is 350mm (roughly 13.5") which means a barely noticeable 1/4" all around. I'm 6'2 and have no trouble seeing any of the dash readouts. It fact, just the opposite, it makes it even easier to reach for the turn stalk through the wheel.
My only complaint is that it's too easy to get dirty and yes you lose the cruise but oh wellz...
Yes I lose one airbag but for me, it's not a concern. The way I see it, we've been without airbags on cars for a long time and it's fine. I don't see anyone ever complaining I won't drive a classis cuz of no airbag! Fact is that modern cars are even safer than the antiques so what's the problem?
