Hi Rick

Don't mean to invite any discord with respect to the RM Racing Intake. (Fine looking piece though!!)

Just want to know if your S2000 feels really quick to you.

1Y2KS2K,

Yes, it was an advantage have all the time to plan, but the greatest advantage was all of the information and advice on this board. If you hang around, read the posts, follow the flames, and pay attention to what's going on, you learn an awful lot and benefit from everybody else's experience. Nothing I've done is really original -- it's all just enhancements or modest changes in what many other owners have already done. I take no credit for originality or imagination, just patience and persistence.

2x6spds,

It feels quite quick to me, and I'm still 100 miles short of VTEC. And we're also having very cold weather, which no doubts keeps the air coming in the engine cold.

But you have to remember that I've been driving pretty tame cars (Mazda Millenia and Honda CRV), so the comparison might not be fair.

But do I enjoy driving this car! I like it more and more every time I get behind the wheel.

Just looking at the CAI, it looks like it could be sucking in alot of hot air, especially since the inlet is pretty much still in the engine bay and the filter is open to the heat as well...

Are the Mugan and Spoon the only alternates?
Yes and no. Like Rick said, the RM intake is a touchy subject. Your observations are correct. I say that Mugen and Spoon are not the only CAI alternatives because there is allways the Honda one. You know the one you already have. Have a minute and look at it and you will, and should, be impressed at the design. It's as good a CAI as you'll find on any car dispite the natural tendency to think it needs to be replaced. Replacing the filter with a K&N is about the limit of it's improvement potential.

Like Rick says, he changed it for the sound and look regardless of power gains or losses.

Cthree,

No, I'm not interested in altering anything just yet... just curious about actual performance versus visual observations. Most likely will replace the air filter and leave it as that. Anyone have a part number handy for aK&N? =)

The JR Filter is somewhat similar to the K&N, but is completely tailor made for the S2K, with the positioning post and all. Mingster just concluded a group buy for this, in which I participated. Who knows, he may do another gb. See previous posts about JR Filters. These filters would be on the plus side for engine performance, imo.

Rick Hesel, you are one class act!

Rick, this is such a classic thread, I just HAD to revive it. I spent quite a bit of time figuring out how to make it come up in a search. I guess today it would go in a different forum.

What is that red window above the 12 cd changer? What model Pioneer Premier is that? P730 or P920? How do you like the amp? Do you need the amp now that you are giving up the sub?

Remind me. What did your installer do for speakers inside the cabin and how do you like it five months later. I know you had those A-pillar trim pieces modified and then you ended up selling them.

Rick, How come you don't have one of your beautiful S badges on the front of your car?
