Honda claims that you can get 10,000 miles out of the rear tires IF you drive the car like a grandma....
You sure about that?

they also state that you should NEVER swap the tires from side to side, because re050's are Uniderectional and you are screwing up your handling by swapping them.
No! I think they mean don't swap them without unmounting/remounting on the other side so the tread faces the same way.

I am sure about the 10,000 mile thing. I read the entire manual. It freaked me out when I read that part and its been burned in my memory...lol

You are right about the mounting/dismounting of the tire. That would be the correct way to do it. But that isn't your standard "rotating" job, where you just swap the wheels, which is what it was talking about in the book.

At any rate. Glad to see that people are getting better mileage out of them than I expected...

Yeah different people will have different views on if it's worth paying the money to have the rear tires swaped.

well, if it adds 5-6k to the life of the tire, then I would definately do it.

I got 20K out of the rear tires. I will replace them all the next time they wear out. I'm very happy with the tires.

I had 20,000 on the rear's before I changed them out. The tread was not completely to the wear bar, but, with the rain in Seattle I decided to get new tread and A/S tires for the winter and cold temps. The fronts still have 1/2 the tread left. Come spring, I will get new re-050 for the rear and run them until the following winter.

My tread is down very close to wear bars at 13,100 miles with one flip at 6k miles. No significant rain yet in Southern California, I may be able to drive a little more until it rains here later.

I'm similar to many who have posted (including OCMusic); I'm at ~19K, and the fronts show some wear, and the rear's look to be at half (at worse). While I've done a lot of spirited drives, I've not done grip-intensive speed.
