Default Motoro Oils for S2000.

Hello. What oil do you guys put in your S2000? I used to put Mobil 1 Synthetic and
now I'm putting Amsoil Series 2000 0w-30. Today I went to buy some oil for my
oil change and I also saw Motul and Torco on the shelf. For this time I just bought
the amsoil but which one is the best? I know there is people who disagree on
0w-30 and 20s but there was Torco Sr-5 0w-20 and I do want to put it in my s2k if
it is better or about the same comparing to ams.

Search through the oil journals. It's in the technical section of under the hood. A member here (Road Rage) did alot of testing and comparing with breakdown points and alot of other technical mumbo jumbo. Anyway, it came down to that Amsoil was rated highest in most of the test. Then maybe redline stuff. Mobil1 was high up there as well, but not in all of the tests. Here's a link:

Mobil 1 10w30.

Curious.....why do people experiment with alternate grades of oil (0w30, 5w30, etc.). What benefit is there? Do you burn oil?

I use Amsoil. My research on both s2ki (oil journals and search) and bitog hasn't shown 1 particular oil to be better than others in it's own class. However, as I just mentioned, they seem to break them up into classes. Amsoil, Motul, Redline, and Neo are all considered top tier oils and it won't matter really which one you use. All of these can be used for extended oil change intervals. Mobil1 and others are classed in the middle tier and Mobil1 is about middle in the mid-tier oils. Since most ppl change out M1 at 3k-5k miles, they work just fine. If you plan to change your oil frequently (3k-5k), it doesn't matter if you use mid-tier or top-tier oils. Using top-tier oils with frequent oil changes would be more a waste of money than actually offering any advantages over the mid-tier brands. HTH.
