Default Mugen Fan Switch

Hello all,

Looking at getting the fan switch. What if I just install the switch and no T-stat.

Did a search but wasnt able to find an answer.

Any help is appreciated

Your fan will almost always be on since the thermostat and fan won't be working together. The stock thermostat will keep the engine warmer than the fan wants. The parts are designed to be installed in a set.

Really, okay so you need to do both, otherwise not worth it? I would not want the fan to run always!

Thats crazy, 80 bucks for a frickin thermostat!!!

So is it a for sure thing that you need to do both fan switch and therm at the same time??

Thinking twice about doing this mod.. Is it worth it?

YES, you need both together for it to work properly. With just the fan switch the fan will almost always be on and the engine will still near near OEM temp. With just the thermo, the engine temp will constantly bounce between the Mugen temp and the OEM temp since thats when the stock fan will kick on. Doing only one will do more harm than good while costing you money to do so. Do it once, do it right.

I have this set up. The Fan is not almost always on. In fact it dosn't really turn on unless you are sitting in traffic on a hot day, or you have gone on a spirited drive. I find it funny that you state it will cause harm? How will the fan turning on a little earlier be harmful? Yes having the two would be better, but having one or the other isn't any worse.

Also, you could just go to auto store (NOT Pepboys, AutoZone or alike) and tell them that you need a fan switch/thermostat in the temperature range that you need

You will need the fan switch, thermostat AND radiator cap (do it right)
