MX-5 vs. S2000?

That being said, I am man enough to drive my Miata without worrying what other people think. What I wonder however is if most S2000 owners feel that their car is so much more masuline, what do they think when most casual/non-car people out there(read women) think that your car is a Miata?
I've had people ask me what kind of car it is, one or two whether its a Miata. Even had an older lady ask me if it was the new Z4. I tell them its an S2000 made by Honda and always add - it's just a Honda in closing. The car is special to me, but I have no intent to talk it up with people. If they are truly curious, they can Google Honda S2000. If the person displays a genuine interest in cars and wants to talk about it, then I tell them more.
Most people can't tell a difference between cars and the fact that the S2000 total production is 1/10th of total Miata production does not help the S2000 any either.
I have seen the Miata crowd display attitude as much as the S2000 crowd does. It's par for the course. At the annual Watkins Glen Grand Prix festival, the S2000's participate in a tour that also includes Miata's, and we've gotten as much grief as we have given them.

It's easy to write anything on a forum...
This guy doesn't really own an S....
The only reason why you buy a Miata, is because you cannot afford an S.
Like the only reason to buy a Cayman, is because you cannot afford a 911

Look at all the awards the Miata has won. They outnumber what the s2k has won by far.
In fact, the s2k would not exist, at all, if not for the miata.

The S2000 comes from the S series of cars from the 50/60's Japan; far ahead of mazda's MX-5.
Some may recall the S600, which was the inspiration for the S2000 as mr. Ueraha (sp?) drove this car and fell in love with it. After 40+ years with honda he wanted to honor Mr. Honda with a car just like the S600 but modern.
Now you are up to speed on the facts.

The amount of ignorance in this thread is laughable.
The Miata and S2000 are both equally great cars, they're just different. We're basically arguing apples vs oranges here, and anyone that thinks differently hasn't really experienced both cars. And no, I don't own a Miata, nor do I plan to.
Miata Pros:
Cheaper to buy, mod, and maintain
Excellent handling
Lighter
Better steering feel (manual steering)
Huge aftermarket support
Factory-backed racing incentives/parts discounts (Mazdaspeed Motorsports Development)
Heritage (Guiness Record for best selling 2-seat sports car of all time, Mazda's racing history, etc)
Miata Cons:
Underpowered
Less safe
Less amenities/tech (manual windows, manual top, optional A/C and LSD, etc)
Less interior/trunk space
Public perception of being "gay" or cheap
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
S2000 Pros:
More powerful
Excellent handling
9K redline, award-winning motor
Rarer
Excellent transmission
More amenities/tech (power top, standard leather seats, standard LSD, digital dash etc)
Slightly better image (but Honda=econobox in most people's minds)
Safer
Slightly more spacious/comfortable
Heritage (Honda F1, Honda's race-oriented beginnings)
S2000 Cons:
More expensive to buy, mod, and maintain
Heavier
Less steering feel
Slightly less aftermarket support/parts variety
Peaky powerband/less low-end power
Tricky handling characteristics/harder to drive fast (esp. with earlier models)
That's all I can think of right now... I'm sure there's more I'm missing in each category.
But what the hell, why bother? The fanboys will go on thinking they drive God's own 9000rpm chariot and ignoring the fact that the Miata is a fantastic car.
The other day I realized that even with a retractable hardtop. The new mx-5s have almost just as much trunk space as our s2000s. New found respect for sure. I want my retiring parents to get one. It would be a perfect year round sporty car that my dad has always dreamed of. The mx-5 isn't for me but I can definitely see the appeal.
